A five-pilot UAP report was reconstructed as an unusually lit satellite train

A 2024 case study examined observations reported by five pilots on two commercial flights over the Pacific. The authors combined the aircraft’s ADS-B track with orbital data for Starlink satellites launched that day and reconstructed how the train would have appeared from the cockpit under changing illumination.

The analysis found that the reconstructed satellite view matched the reported lights and argued for better advance awareness of satellite visibility among aviators. A single case cannot explain unrelated reports, but it demonstrates a reproducible method: align precise observer position and time with known objects before assigning anomaly.
